Ever wondered how it feels to die?
Death special: How does it feel to die? - being-human - New Scientist - 13 October 2007
It’s a mystery only truly solved in your final moments, but Anna Gosline offers some macabre insights.

Fact or Fiction?: Living People Outnumber the Dead
Booming population growth among the living, according to one rumor, outpaces the dead - Scientific American - 1 March 2007
On the subject of death, I once read that there are currently more people alive than dead. I did read this ‘fact’ in an FHM book of fantastic facts that I found in a backpackers in Byron Bay several years ago. I have relayed this to several people who look at me as if I am mad so I did my research and it is estimated that 90 - 100 billion (thousand million, not million millon) have lived and died to date. There are about 6 billion alive today.

I have been AWOB for too long.

That’s what Warren Ellis calls it: “Absent WithOut Bloggery”.

Chuck Fullmer, 38, yesterday became the first American to get to grips with the concept of sarcasm. “It was weird” Fullmer said. “I was in London and like, talking to this guy and it was raining and he pulled a face and said, “Great weather eh?” and I thought - “Wait a minute, no way is it great weather”. Fullmer then realised that the other man’s ‘mistake’ was in fact deliberate. Fullmer, who is 39 next month and married with two children, aged 8 and 3, plans to use sarcasm himself in future. “I’m, like, using it all the time” he said. “Last weekend I was grilling steaks and I burned them and I said “Hey, great weather.”

Thanks Pete, for that joke at the expense of our American chums.

One day a farmer’s donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn’t worth it to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbours to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. The donkey realised what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone’s amazement he quietend down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer’s neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of
our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.
2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happen.
3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less
Enough of that crap…

The donkey later came back and bit the shit out of the farmer who had tried to bury him. The gash from the bite got infected, and the farmer eventually died in agony from septic shock.

Todays moral:
When you do something wrong and try to cover your ass, it always comes back to bite you.
